| A three bedroom house built for under $200,000 that has low energy needs, uses renewable resources, and sits quietly in the landscape. |
|
Start with a simple and restrained house form, and add drama and beauty with a bold and expansive screen porch and carport. We grew the livable space in a modest house by placing a wood stove on the screen porch, allowing 3 1/2 season use. The living spaces face south, and capture the all the available sun and light.
The house is heated by an highly efficient and compact boiler, because the outside walls are highly insulated with efficient low-e windows, and the compact floor plan allows heat to move throughout the house without a complex and expensive water distribution system. This house is a vivid example of living lightly on the land, insuring affordability now and affordability in the future. |
