| A small one bedroom apartment above a horse barn in a high pasture in western Maine, with a dramatic view of the White Mountains. |
|
Set the house back in the far eastern corner of the site, to allow the historic pasture to remain productive, and balance the desire for views to the west and still capture sun from the south. The form draws from the agricultural heritage of the surrounding farms, and strives to provide a modest and spartan retreat for the owners.
The house will be passively solar heated, and will draw power from the constant wind and sun the high hill provides. The goal is to be fossil fuel independent and require minimal maintenance. |
